Silver Screen Heroes & Other Legends

The Last Singing Cowboy

The last singing cowboy has died
The last time that I saw him ride
He was handsome and strong, he was singing his song
To a world that had yet to decide
Now the last singing cowboy has died

Our choices were still black and white
He stood for all that was right
Kindness to children, respect for women
He'd never let truth be denied
When the last singing cowboy did ride

When the last singing cowboy did ride
We looked on our heroes with pride
How is it I don't know – now the bad guys are heroes
But our heroes would never have lied
When the last singing cowboy did ride

The last time I saw him was when
He was back in the saddle again
Fighting for justice, he'd always trust us
To step up and stand by his side
When the last singing cowboy did ride

His word was sacred – he'd never break it
Upon him we always relied
When the last singing cowboy did ride......
But the last singing cowboy has died
